Golf is a repetitive physical activity that puts a lot of strain on the body. With the reopening of golf courses and rescheduling of the PGA Tour, we’d like to talk about how physical therapy can help you stay safe on the course.

One of the most common injuries we see with golfers is lower back pain caused by poor mobility in the lumbar spine, weakness in the legs, or lack of core control. Bryan Yehl at our Pittsford Mendon location discusses a few ways golfers can stretch and warm-up before they head to the course.

Another common injury is golfer’s elbow. Stress on the muscles in the forearm leads to inflammation of the common flexor tendon. Stretch the muscles in your forearm before and after golfing and ice the elbow if you are experiencing any pain.

Other common golf injuries include tearing the rotator cuff and shoulder injuries. Proper form and improving flexibility are recommended to minimize the likelihood of these problems.

If you are experiencing any of these injuries, stop by one of our clinics for an evaluation. We’d love to help you get back to feeling your best.
